Commissioner Issues Directive Requiring Non-Cancellation of Commercial Policies for Nonpayment

On March 20, 2020, the Georgia Commissioner of Insurance issued Directive 20-EX-5 instructing property and casualty insurers not to cancel any commercial policies for nonpayment, particularly those dealing with business interruption or business income coverage, for the next 60 days.

Commissioner Issues Directive Concerning Business Interruption Coverage Forms

On March 20, 2020, the Georgia Commissioner of Insurance issued Directive 20-EX-4 in which it notes that the Insurance Services Office has uploaded two forms with respect to business interruption coverage that relates to COVID-19 and that the office is willing to expedite the review process for such coverages to enable brokers/insurers to offer such coverage to businesses immediately.

COMMISSIONER ISSUES DIRECTIVE CONCERNING WINDING DOWN PRIOR PANDEMIC DIRECTIVES

On April 28, 2020, the Georgia Commissioner of Insurance issued Directive 20-EX-7 including a termination of Directive 20-EX-5 to property and casualty insurers concerning premium grace periods, which will end on May 19, 2020.
