Kansas Insurance Department Maintains COVID-19 FAQs, Including Business Interruption Insurance
The Kansas Insurance Department maintains FAQs, on its website, updated periodically, covering several issues related to COVID-19 including one on business interruption insurance. The FAQ states that it is unlikely that business interruption coverage would cover losses related to COVID-19, as most business policies have a communicable disease exclusion. It advises businesses to read their policies closely for all exclusions and notes that in providing the information it is not intending to dissuade a business from filling a claim if there is a possibility of coverage.
We recommended that businesses review their policies and contact their insurance professionals with any questions.
